REMINDER!
Class of 2025! It's time to claim your parking place for the year! Here's what you need to do...
Step 1: Buy a parking permit. Permits are $10.00, they can be purchased from Mrs. Brodnax when you pay to paint your spot. There is a form you need to fill out with a parent signature. You will need a copy of your driver's license and a copy of your insurance card. You can take care of this on Thursday or Friday during pre-planning so you can paint.
Step 2: Pay to paint. Your design must be approved and there is an additional $10.00 fee to paint your spot. Show Mrs. Brodnax the design, pay the fee. Designs must be appropriate for school, nothing distasteful or inflammatory, please.
Step 3: Time to paint.... Once you have your permit and approval from Mrs. Brodnax, you are ready to paint. Because there is so much going on during pre-planning and the parking lot needs to be used, there are very specific times when you can paint. Thursday, August 1st, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday, August 2nd, 8:00 a.m.- 8: p.m. these are the ONLY times when painting is allowed. If you cannot paint during these times let Mrs. Brodnax know. If there is enough interest we will do another painting day in October.
Tips we learned last year: It will take a full gallon of paint to cover an entire spot. If you choose a spot that has been painted before it will take less. House paint and spray paint work best. "Craft" paint is okay, but it takes a large amount of paint to get good coverage and it won't last all year. Painting takes time. Last year most students spent 3-4 hours painting and some designs took all day to paint. You may want to paint your background on Thursday afternoon so it can dry and you can paint the main design on Friday. Stencils and tape can be very helpful! If you paint during the day on Friday you may want to set up a tent to work under.
Send questions to Mrs. Brodnax .
