LUES would like to invite our students to wear red, white and blue for Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024. Having our students at the Veterans Day program with red, white, and blue will add to the celebration and honor the service and sacrifices of our veterans. By wearing these colors, our students will show their support and respect for the men and women who have bravely served our country. We encourage all students to participate in this spirit of patriotism and remembrance. We look forward to seeing everyone dressed in red, white, and blue as we pay tribute to our heroes during the Veterans Day program. Thank you for joining us in this important observance!

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: MATH AND SCIENCE AT HOME Children are filled with curiosity! By exploring math and science concepts at home, you can help them find answers to all their questions and continue to foster a curious spirit. In our ever-evolving world, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills have become increasingly important. We will be sharing some engaging math and science experiments that you can explore together at home. By engaging in these math and science experiments at home, you can inspire a love of learning in your child and help them develop valuable problem-solving skills. Children love hands-on projects and the time to explore together- it's a fun way to bond and create lasting memories while learning and growing. Happy experimenting!

Dear Lyons Upper Elementary Family, As I sit down to write this I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. During this difficult time, the outpouring of love, support, and kindness from our faculty, staff, TCBOE, students, parents, and the entire community has truly touched my heart. Thank you for the generous donations, heartfelt cards/letters, warm hugs, and your constant prayers. Each gesture has made a significant difference in my family's life. I am truly humbled by the strength of our community and the compassion you have all shown me at this time. Your unwavering support reminds me of the extraordinary bond we share at Lyons Upper Elementary. Together, we create a nurturing environment where love and kindness prevail. I am proud to be a part of such an incredible community. Thank you once again for your kindness and support. I am grateful to each and every one of you. Today was a wonderful day! I am so happy to be back at work to see my babies, and get back to a new normal. With heartfelt appreciation, Mrs. Stone Principal Lyons Upper Elementary

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES Just Read! Don't get caught up on what your child wants to read; they have structured and intentional reading at school. Let them explore comics, magazines, or recipes at home. The goal is just for them to read!

LUES FAMILY FOCUS: READING STRATEGIES Be a Role Model: Demonstrate your love for reading by setting aside time for your own reading interests. Children often emulate their parents' habits, so seeing you with a book could prove to be very powerful.
